In the Menagerie Wilderness

Pete Guagliardo on South Rabbit Ear

me·nag·er·ie

[muh-naj-uh-ree, -nazh-]

noun

1. a collection of wild or unusual animals, especially for exhibition

2. a place where they are kept or exhibited

3. an unusual and varied group of people

What else would one expect to find in a "menagerie" but wild places and wild people?  On my first trip to this Oregon wilderness, I was lucky to experience both - along with some pretty cool climbing.

Our friends at NW Alpine organized the little outing along with some highly suspect local dirtbags.  We climbed, we told stories, we fell asleep in the dirt and awoke in the rain.  We ate salsa and drank tequila.  And we just barely scratched the surface.  I think I'll be back.
